A first assessment involves finding out a bit about who you are and what has brought you to therapy. What is keeping you feeling stuck, what have you tried before, what works, what doesn’t? I tend to think of it as trying to build a jigsaw; we need to find all the pieces, have a good look at them and work out how to build a comprehensive picture that makes sense. From here we can identify treatment goals and how we can achieve these together.

From here we work at your pace, with your goals, to achieve outcomes identified by you. Psychology is about building skills, increasing understanding of processes and developing the tools you need to be able to cope more effectively, both now and in the future. I integrate treatment models to build a bespoke therapy that will work for you. Therapy can be challenging; we look at how you think and feel, identify behaviours that may be keeping you stuck, look at the influence of experiences that have shaped your way of seeing yourself, the world and others and try and find new, more effective ways to navigate your world.
