I am based in Rownhams, on the outskirts of Southampton, in Hampshire.
As a Clinical Psychologist, I am passionate about working with people to address their emotional and mental health difficulties and to achieve their treatment goals. I have a particular interest in working with addictions, trauma, and anxiety disorders and as such these are my main areas of expertise.
In addition to working privately, I also worked in an NHS Addictions Service until recently, predominantly with alcohol and illicit drugs, and as a result much of my work was with people with complex mental health needs who have experienced single or multiple traumas, abuse, domestic violence, grief, low self-esteem, anxiety disorders, self-harm, depression or personality disorder in addition to misusing substances as a way to cope with their difficulties. Currently I continue to work in the NHS in addition to my private work.
My Clinical Experience
I have been working in the NHS since 2006 and prior to this worked for the NSW Department of Health in Australia for several years. My training and experiences have enabled me to work with individuals across the lifespan presenting with a wide range of difficulties and needs. In particular I have spent time working within various addiction services, forensic services, the child and family courts, individuals in hospital with physical and mental health needs, adolescent mental health services, and with older adults presenting with dementia. These rich experiences have enabled me to grow as a clinician and appreciate a range of human experience whilst utilising people’s own motivation and strengths to achieve change. I work closely with individuals to build a therapeutic relationship to achieve outcomes identified by them.
